NEW TRAIL AT 7-MILE CREEK PARK! Thanks Mike!
CLICK HERE to see the NEW South Meadow Trail. According to Mike Wagner, the trail needs work and money (especially to place limestone on the rise from the floor to the top of the bluff)! Application was made to the Minnesota Trail Riders Association for 2007 Trail Maintenance Funding, and, the grant notice arrived last week! Kudos to the Minnesota Trail Riders' Association!!
We visited the new trail and it takes you from the floor of the park to the top of the bluff where there is a nice grassy area. The view is awsome!! Since the trail has no limestone, it was a bit slick after the rains, but we went slow and thoroughly enjoyed going up, then down the new trail!
7-Mile Creek Park has one park person. His name is John Gatzke. Say "hello" and THANK John for all of his hard work. John has a limited budget to keep up the trails at 7-Mile Creek Park and does his best with the monies that he has to work with...
Per Mike: Donations to the Park are always welcome. The limited funds available do not go far when labor and equipment rates get applied. Donations would certainly help. Our Department can furnish John a person to do the trucking to the Park or even apply the limestone, but that time is charged to the Park fund. With the usage of the Park trails on the increase it might be time to have a special "Seven Mile Creek Park Trail Maintenance Fund" that anyone can donate to if desired.
If you would like to donate monies to help with the trails at 7-Mile Park, make check out to the "Nicollet County Treasure", and send the check to Nicollet County Public Works, Box 518, St. Peter, Minnesota 56082; or if you would like to donate monies to a special area of the park, contact Mike at mwagner@co.nicollet.mn.us.

Located off of Minnesota State Highway 169 between Mankato and St. Peter. Equestrian trails are available on both sides of Highway 169 which give the rider a choice of river scenery or hills, creeks, and woodland. Please be advised that trailer parking is on the east side of Highway 169. There is little or no room for trailer parking on the west side!
Equestrians share this beautiful park with bikers, pedestrians, and their animals. Well-trained mounts should be used as running children, dogs, and bikes may present "surprises" to the unwary horse and rider. Please be courteous and ride with control at all times to ensure the safety of yourself, your horse, and those who share the park's trails with us. Please pay attention to signage and remember to "scoop your poop" to the side of the walkway...its a small price to pay to have these gorgeous trails available for our use.

| Fall 2005 at 7-Mile Creek Park
Riding at 7-Mile is an absolute joy during the Fall. If you're looking for a short ride (approximately 2 hours) through woods, hills, and a few water crossings, 7-Mile is just the park for you whether you are a novice or experienced rider.
Spring may find the trails slick and slippery in areas, and if you ride during mid-summer after the coolness of morning has evaporated it'll be a good idea to bring 100% deet spray with you...the mosquitos are nasty and the flies bite too!
We just love this park and know you will too! Karen & Leo |
