A bit of our history. In June of 1950 a group of horse owners/lovers got together at the City Hall in LeSueur, Minnesota, to organize a riding club--The LeSueur Saddle Club. The striking “Black & Gold” banner followed by the gold shirts of the founding LeSueur Saddle Club members brought much recognition to the Club as they participated in parades and celebrations throughout the State of Minnesota. Many of these same founding families are still active in our club today! As it was in 1950, the purpose of our saddle club is still to promote the love of horses, individual and family equine activities, and good horsemanship.
Not only is the LeSueur Saddle Club one of the oldest saddle clubs belonging to the WSCA (Western Saddle Clubs Association), it is also one of the eight founding clubs who joined together on February 16, 1974, to create the Mid State Association! To keep our community abreast of our activities, our club has held classes at the LeSueur High School during the Spring Festival to explain our function within the community. Not only do our events bring revenue to our community they promote the equine industry and foster community spirit through our competitions. In the past, the LeSueur Saddle Club has held an Annual Fall Dance, we've participating in the Pony Express Ride for Camp Courage, and hosted various events in our community such as a Sleigh-Day Parade. Today, our Annual Overnight Trail Ride and Annual Horse Show are “time honored” events that occur at the same time year after year. Our Annual Overnight Trail Ride is ALWAYS held the third weekend in May, and our Annual Horse Show is ALWAYS held the Sunday before Memorial Day. Club members enjoy showing and trail riding so in combination with our horse shows we try to have monthly trail rides throughout the summer. Our Club meets the first Thursday of every Month. From October through April our meetings are held at St. Anne’s School in LeSueur; and, from May through September the meetings are held at the Club grounds at the north end of LeSueur. (Scroll down for maps to meeting locations.) Feel free to visit any of our meetings, we’d love to meet and learn about you and your family (horses included).
